Am seeking further information on William Thomas Thorp. He was born 29 Oct 1803 and baptised 8 Dec 1803 at St. Clement Danes in London. His parents were listed as Thomas Thorp and Sarah. He married Ann Oram Langley 4 Jul 1829 at St. Pancras in Great London. Three children are found in the baptismal records of St. Pancras: William Bryan, born 23 Jun 1830 and baptised 14 Feb 1831; Alfred Patrick, baptised 17 Mar 1833 and Henry Thomas born 11 Aug 1833 and baptised 17 Feb 1834. In the Census of England for 1841 William Thomas Thorp is located in St. Bride parish, London, with his wife, the above listed sons and an additional son, Charles, born about 1836. In the census record and in directory listings he is listed with the occupation stationer. I can find no emmigration/immigration records for William Thomas Thorp but he appears in the 1850 U.S. Census in Milwaukee, Wisc. with his sons Henry Thomas, Charles and George (who must have been born in England about 1842). His son Alfred is also in Milwaukee but at a different address. No U.S. records or 1851 English census records have been found for his wife or other son, William Bryan. In about 1850 William Thomas Thorp remarried and began another family. In about 1851 or 1852 he moved to Manistee Michigan. He died 16 April 1887.

I have much information on his second marriage but am looking for more on his ancestry and on his first marriage and the children of that marriage. According to his obit in 1887 he had had nine children in his first marriage.

According to my grandmother, William Thomas was very particular about using the spelling Thorp but he does appear in some records as Thorpe. Thorpe is frequently found in records I have found for his children.
