In researching a Minerva Nichols in hopes that she might be mine, I came across another one from NY and am posting this information for others who might be interested.....
Elisha and Mary Nichols of Washington Co. NY moved to Shelby, Macomb Co. MI. Elisha died sometime in 1847 and basically left everything to his wife Mary also $100 to his daughter Manerva Thorp, the rest was to his son John who was to care for his mother. He named as executors: Ezra Thorp and John Nichols. The other children were not named. It was written 6 Jul 1847 and probated 13 Sep 1847.
Checking the 1850 census for Shelby Twp:
Ezra Thorp age 40 NY,
wife Manerva age 36 NY
Julia 16,
Jessie 14f
Earl 8
(all born Michigan)
