I find this migration very interesting, especially since Stan Thornton & My Thornton are an exact DNA match at 67 markers. My Thornton/Johnson connection took place in Fayette Co. TN. This Thornton line was from Caroline Co. & Fauquier Co. VA areas & very "cousin" connected. While searching my Johnsons (DNA kit recently ordered)- the earliest I can go is 1785 NC to GA to Marshall MS & my line to Fayette Co tn. Other connected Johnsons went to Bedford TN & Tippah MS & TX. Another 1/2 Thornton cousin line from Culpeper VA dropped to Memphis (Shelby Co. TN) to another close county & many returned to Culpeper VA. I also find the names Mayo & Fushee interesting, as I find them in the Fitzhugh Data base in VA who also connect to the same line of Thorntons. My Bartlett Johnson is in the Marshall Co. MS 1850 census. By 1860 he moves to Fayette Co TN(a stone's throw away). Bartlett married Eliza Hampton (VA Hampton line). His son Dr. Albert Joseph Johnson married Marianna Mildred Thornton in Fayette co. TN. My Great Grandparents. Due to the Thornton DNA match, I still remain curious of our connection + the migration patterns. Notify Administrator about this message?
