According to the will of Francis Hill of Sampson Co, NC, dated 1800 his daughter, Martha, married a John Thornton. I have been unable to find any additional information on this couple. There is a Martha Thornton living in the area in the 1840 census but she did not appear in the 1850 census. Any information on any of these families would be most appreciated. Francis Hill married Mary Blackman, John Thornton married Martha Hill, Simon Hobbs married Hester Hill, William Westbrook married Aliey Hill and the only son of Francis Hill was Bennett Hill who married Mary Lee.
