Margaret Thornton, about age 16, married David Francis Bourquin, his third wife, in Savannah, Georgia, about 1795-96. They had several children who left descendants. A family legend is that David F. Bourquin, ship owner, sailed past a beach in Jamaica and saw a white family furiously waving from the beach. He sent a boat to shore and learned they were trying to escape a slave uprising. He took the Thornton family back to Savannah and soon married Margaret. Need further information on this family. They might have been related to the famous William Thornton who designed the Capitol whose family had plantations in the islands.
