Hi, can I get in on this?I too come from Thornleys that lived inthis area of England. My gang lived in Cheshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire.
My earliest documented Thornley was John THORNLET (born in 1810) and married a Hannah HARTLEY in Glossop. They moved about living sevral towns in both Derbyhire and Cheshire. In 1849 the family (which included:Edwin Hartley THORNLEY, Sophia THOTNLEY, Mary Ann THORNLEY, Jesse THORNLEY and Frederick THORNLEY) came to settle in Trenton, NJ.John's father was also a John THORNLEY (mother unknown).John may have had brothers nemed Jesse, Anthony and Wright who also came to the US and settled in Philadelphia, PA. These latter Thornleys became coffee roasters.John THORNLEY operated a newsdealership in Trenton and did quite well.
I can provide considerable detail about their lives in the US and dates and places of birth in England.
Does any of this connect?
