Solon was one of eight children of Jacob Henry Hunter Thornell (b.8 Jan 1847 in Coosa Co.)and Martha T Wilbanks (b.31 Jul 1847 in Georgia).They were married 24 Dec 1867 in Coosa Co.Jacob and Martha are buried in Union Pres.Cem. in Coosa Co.Jacob was one of thirteen children of William Lewis Thornell(b.25 Nov 1811 in S.Carolina)and Elizabeth Rushing(b.1817 in Anson,N.Carolina).They were married 21 May 1834 in Montgomery,Al.They are buried in Rehobeth Method.Cem.in Coosa Co.Martha Wilbanks father was Gideon Wilbanks(b.abt 1804 in S.Carolina).
