Monongalia - John Thorn d. 1821- John Thorn d. 1831 New Information!!!!

1. John Thorn, d. 1821 Monongalia, was married to Elizabeth (Knight). I found the estate settlement for this family as well as the family below. I plan on looking for any guardian information shortly. This is not the family I am linked to directly, but have been doing research on them for years, until now. I do have quite a bit of information on John and Elizabeth and their children.

The following John Thorn, and Sarah, are my direct line, through their daughter, Julia Ursula Thorn and Elias C. Finnell.

2. John Thorn, d. 1831 Monongalia, was married to Sarah, and I believe widow Sarah married again, to Hugh D. Murphy in April 1835. I have a marriage bond record for a Sarah Thorn marrying Hugh D. Murphy in April 1835 in Monongalia County. Shortly before the marriage, a suit was filed by the oldest daughter, Sarah Ann and her husband Thomas J. Massie, against Sarah Thorn and the Thorn heirs, for a redistribution of the estate of John Thorn.
The children of John and Sarah are as follows:
1. Sarah Ann Thorn md. Thomas J. Massie
2. Amalthea E. Thorn md. Nancy L. Berkshire
3. Althea Jane Thorn md. Aaron Criss
4. John Urban Thorn md. Elizabeth Menefee
5. Julia Ursula Thorn md. Elias C. Finnell
6. Ashville Burch Thorn md. 1. Janie Davis 2. md. Margaret E. Wilson
7. Louisa Ellen Thorn md. Philip Rogers

This parent information is proved in the court papers from Monongalia County.

I would be interested in any information anyone may hove on any of these people. I have a lot of info on Julia Ursula Thorn and Elias C. Finnell, but not much on the others. I have broken through one brick wall (the parents and siblings of my Julia Ursula Finnell, but I am now looking at another one with John Thorn (where did this one come from and who are his parents?), and Sarah, who may be a Finnell, but I need much more information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lois K. Parry
