Dear Joyce,

I'm just beginning to look for info on my family. Legend has it that our name was once Thomsen. The reason I'm responding to you is that my search for the origins of my great-great grandfather, Christopher Thomasson, took me to two Thomsen brothers born in Elling, Hjorring, DK: Peder Christian in 1811 and Christian in 1813. I think one of these may be my great grandfather, whose records as Christopher Thomasson say that he was born in 1910. Legend also has it that he stowed away on a ship to the U.S. I have found no domestic records of him prior to the 1860 census that had him living in New Orleans with his wife Margaret and three children including Joseph, my great grandfather. If you have any additional info, I'd very much appreciate knowing it.

Best regards,
Alex Thomasson
