William Frederick Thompson and Susan Miller, LA
William Frederick Thompson is said to have been born June 8, 1821 in St. Landry Parish and died July 26, 1895 in Merryville, Beauregard Parish, LA, buried at the Cannon Cemetery.
My question is this: Where did these dates derive and does he have a tombstone in Cannon Cemetery? I have never seen a source for the dates nor the burial.
William Frederick Thompson is the father of my great, great grandmother Nancy Elizabeth Thompson born February 26, 1857 and died March 29, 1929 in Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas. She married John Hunt and the couple moved from Vernon Parish, LA (where they are on the census in 1900) shortly after the census was taken to Homer, Angelina County, Texas.
Nancy's funeral certificate states that her father's name was William Thompson and no name was given for her mother. Nancy's uncle, Dempsey D. Thompson, Sr. from Caddo Parish, LA was living with his son, Dempsey D. Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Mary Lola Hunt Thompson next door to Nancy Thompson and John Hunt in 1910 in the Angelina County, TX census. Dempsey's son (the Jr.) married their daughter, Mary Lola Hunt.
Dempsey D. Thompson, Sr. from Caddo Parish, LA was William Frederick Thompson's brother. He first married Matilda Williams and by her had a son James. He secondly married Jane S. (Disy) Kennedy March 31, 1859 in Hempstead, Lafayette Co., AR where he enlisted in the CSA October 20, 1863. They remained in Arkansas until after their third child was born in 1868. In 1870 they were back in Caddo Parish, LA, but sometime before 1872 they moved to Cass County, Texas where Dempsey D. Thompson, Jr. was born. By 1880 they were again back in Caddo Parish, LA, and in 1900 in Vernon Parish, LA. They apparently moved to Angelina County just afterward, and Jane died there. Her grave marker is in the Whitehouse Cemetery as "Jane Thompson", no dates, just a small brick. By 1910, "Dee" (Dempsey, Sr.) was living with his son as a widower.
Dempsey D. Thompson, Jr. died in 1945 and is also buried (along with his wife) in the Whitehouse Cemetery. John and Nancy Hunt are also buried there.
I just want to verify the dates of birth, death, and burial location of William Frederick Thompson. It is also stated that Susan died in Vernon Parish. I have two different versions of where she was buried: Gravel Hill Cemetery, and Burgess Creek Cemetery. No date is ever given except Abt. 1903. Can anyone verify this, also?
Thank you.
