I have some information to share.I've been working on the Thompsons' for a long time. There are 3-4 John Thompsons in the area and 2-3 different wills and 2 of the 3 married a Margaret.I'm going to address this notice and the one you posted Nov. 21 too. I want to give you most of the info and maybe you can help me figure this mess out.
I know for a fact that James b. Aug. 1776, Ann, b. 1768 and Joseph b. 1788 are siblings.James and Joseph are buried in the Lackey/Thompson cem. in Alexander co. I have pics of their graves. There is also a Roscinah Thompson b. 1784 (sister???) Amy, Joseph's wife if buried there too.
Okay... John (#1) & Margaret Thompson . JOhn died 1760
children: John (#2)b. 1699/1700 d. 4-3-1774, Rowan co. NC buried at Thyatiara Pres. Cem.
Joseph, MOses d. 1802 , Jamesand I think Jane
John (#2)from above. he marries Martha
will dated 1774 (headstone says 74yrs old, info above)
children: Alexander buried right side of father. d. 1774
Wm., John(#3)... JOseph... Margaret m. John Brown; Rachel m. John McGaughey; Thomas d. 1794 and I have his children
step daughter Agnes (Allen???)
John (#3) from John #2 above
John d. 1798 and married to Margaret
chidlren : George
Rachel m. ___ Wiley; Joseph; Margaret m.___ Cook; Elizabeth; Sarah m. ___Ferris; Jane.
As you can see there is a Joseph in each of the families.
I can't make any of the John families connected to our James Adams line in Alexander County. At least we know that JOseph is a bro to James. and none of the above Joseph's are the right ones.
As per your note on Nov. 21.
I agree that Joseph (James' bro) was born in Iredell co.
Your comment on Ann.. I agree, but Mary Margaret and Wm.... are they the children of one of the above John's????
I had thought the same thing until this past week and now I don't believe there is a connection in the John's and our James Thompson line.
None of the John's mention a James as a descendent.....
I also wrote down a note 25 = yrs ago when I was at the Lackey cemetery and it was a headstone that said:
James Thompson b. 1739.... I've never seen it documented on anything else, NOT even the listing of the Lackey people in the cemetery. So I wonder IF the headstone had disappeared by then?
If there is another James... b. 1739.... that man could have been the father of our line of James Thompson, Ann and Joseph.
Let me know what you think.
