Diane,
I am Ron Thompson and I would like to compare my family to yours. My GGGG grandfather was John Thompson, married to an Ann or Anne LNU.I suspect that he was the son of the Benjamin that you mention from Bute Co., NC.I just found a land deed in Mecklenburg Co. NC that mentions his wife's name as Ann.Also living close by to John were Drury Thompson and a James Thompson who were sons of that same Benjamin. So there is strong circumstantial evidence that John was a brother to Drury and James and so a son of Benjamin Thompson of Bute Co., NC.
Also my DNA has been matched to descendants of Benjamin Thompson of Bute Co., NC.Thats a powerful indicator that I am related to Benjamin up through my GGGG grandfather, John Thompson.I have good solid data on my John from Mississippi to Louisiana. He came to Ms. from Ga.I don't know anything about where he was in Ga.I do know that all of his children were born there except for his daughter Mary who was born in NC, where I don't know.
Do you know anything that can shed light on my John's whereabouts? If there is anything I can help you with please let me know.
