1784 letter mentioning George Thompson, Rev. War Soldier, wife, Cynthia, from VA
I have a photo copy of a letter written in 1784 by William Price in VA.He states, "...my father received the sorrowful news of the death of Cynthia Thompson, wife of George Thompson, who served in Col. Butler's regiment in the battle of Monmouth and Saratoga.Mr. Thompson was a good man, a good citizen, a good neighbor and above all a true Christian and a good patriot."
"She had been a member of the Lower Spotsylvania for more than thirty years."He mentions "...her ardent devotion to the principles of civil and religious liberty taught in the Holy Scriptures..."
This Price family were well know early Baptists in this area of VA.I'm interested in corresponding with anyone who goes back to this Thompson family and am willing to copy this letter for anyone who might appreciate it.You can contact me at [email protected]
