Thomas Berry Thompson was the oldest son of Bridges Burton Thompson and his wife, Melinda (Linnie) Jenks.Their younger son, Joel Burton, was my ancestor.I would love to find out the ancestry of Bridges. In the census, he claimed to be born in South Carolina. The Thompsons of Madison County (my ancestors on the paternal side) lived in Union County, S.C. before coming to Madison County.I wonder if he was the son of one of the remaining Thompsons and then B.B. came here to join his cousins? Also, there is an 1810 record in Oglethorpe County of Polly Garrett (Garrott) who does a "quit-claim" on William Thompson of Greene County. The two of them had a marriage license and were listed as being married, but it failed. In the court documents, she promised to raise "the boy child" and not to get any more money from William Thompson. That sounds interesting.
Do you have any more information than you did two years ago?
