Floyd E. Thompson
SPRINGFIELD - Floyd E. Thompson, 78, of Springfield, formerly of Berlin, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Berlin, the son of Raymond E. and Ruth C. Striegel Thompson. He married Mary Louise Fischer in 1951; she died in 2005.
Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He retired as a senior purchasing agent from Fiatallis after more than 35 years and worked for the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, Knights of Columbus Council 364 and Fiatallis Retirees Club.
Survivors: three daughters, Catherine Furkin and Sandra Kovski, both of Springfield, and Diane (husband, Kenneth) McLaughlin of Chatham; son, David (wife, Judy) and Daniel (wife, Lynette) Thompson, both of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Agnes Church, the Rev. Robert J. Jallas officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery.
