THOMPSON, Joshua p.11: 00100-00100-00 (from WorldConnect: son of James THOMPSON & Ms.
MORTON. He was b. c1775 in VA - d. 05 OCT 1829 in Pickens County, SC m. 26 SEP 1799 in Orange County, NC to Mary JACKSON.

Joshua THOMPSON who was situated on 12 Mile River SC and died in Pickens SC is NOT the same Joshua Thompson who was a son of James Thompson who married Mary Jackson. Additionally, there has never been any records found to show that James Thompson married a "Ms. Morton", he was a Quaker and their records are excellent and do not show that.
The Joshua Thompson who married Mary Jackson Lived and Died in North Carolina, never leaving the area at all and reared a very large family there, descendants of which still reside there.
Joshua Thompson who was eventually situated on 12 Mile River in SC originally settled in the Greenville vacinity when he migrated to SC. Descendants in the early part of this century said that he was involved with the trapping and trade industry among the Cherokee. His first wife, by whom he had several children, died. I have a copy of an original handwritten will by the man who states he is his father and it was NOT James Thompson at all..........
Hope this corrects any errors.
