Thanks for the information! It is absolutely terrific. You must have done lots of research. It has been very interesting and educational reading about all of the ancestors of James P.D. Thompson. This is by far the most information that I have ever received from a single query! The internet is definitely revolutionizing genealogical research. I know that I would never have known all of this interesting information without your help. Many, many thanks for all your work. If you ever develop any further biographical information on any of the ancestors of James P.D. Thompson, I would definitely be interested in knowing about them. I am trying to develop better information on the descendants of James P.D. Thompson and Cynthia A. Willingham and also on the ancestors of Cynthia A. Willingham. It's pretty certain that Cynthia's mother was Mary Ann _____ Willingham and I think her father was William Willingham. James P.D. and Cynthia were living in the same household as Mary Ann Willingham in the 1850 Census.
I only have one bit of information that differs with yours. You show that James P.D. Thompson died in 1868. Family tradition is that he was serving in the Confederate army at a camp in Natchitoches, Louisiana when he became sick. Somehow his wife Cynthia heard about how he was very sick and traveled from their home in East Texas to Natchitoches to try to help care for her husband. Nevertheless, he supposedly died of pneumonia [during the Civil War, but I don't have a specific date.] I do know that Cynthia later shows up as drawing a civil war veteran's pension as Mrs. Cynthia A. Willingham. I think I saw this in a Wood Co. history book.
