I've seen a lot of THOMPSON's in ALABAMA and I even found a substantial number born in SC and many of the names are the same as my known SC THOMPSON relatives. It really ticks me off that at present there seems to be no way to link these different branches of the THOMPSON family. My GGgrandfather, Rev. George McDuffie THOMPSON was the only male THOMPSON I know of (youngest son of Charles THOMPSON and Mahala GAINES Thompson) that left SC and I know where he went (Lamar Co., TX), when (fall 1880), and with who (his children from his first marriage and his wife from his 2nd marriage). There's a lot of THOMPSONs who settled in/around Lamar Co. (Paris, TX) too and I'd bet there is more than just coincidence, but I haven't got the records to prove my suspicions.GGGgrandfather William THOMPSON going to Alabama and getting killed by an indian is just a story handed down verbally as far as I can tell. I have no proof that he either did or didn't go to Alabama, or did or didn't get killed by an indian.
Chasing THOMPSON ancestors is tough work, huh?
