I think I finally may have unravled this one. Email me for details.
It looks like Robert was born in Alabama (you know that is subject to change! haha) and was the son of James Tommison and Charlotte UNK.
Robert first married Nancy UNK in MS. Their children were Benjamin, b. 1854 MS, Charlotte b. 1855 MS, James b. 1857, Willis b. 1858 MS (this is a new son for me) and Lucy b. 1859 (I think she is widely believed to the be dauther of Robert and his 3rd wife Slina Hobbs, but it looks like she was probabaly the daughter of Robert and Nancy).
