It's very likely that your Thomas W. Thomason was a son of Thomas Whiteside Thomason b. c1840 TN, son of Elisha Thomason b. 1801 KY.

However, I haven't found proof. And, Thomas William Thomason b. 1872 TX, known son of Thomason Whiteside Thomason, has been given a wife, Katie L. Katie hasn't been found.

The good news (but expensive) is that we already have a DNA sample from another descendant of Elisha. If you have a male Thomason relative who'd be willing to donate a cheek swab, the connection will be proven. The cost now is $149. See Ancestry.com for more info.
