Carol, you're to be congratulated for having enough foresight to separate the Thomassons from the Thomsons. However, in Louisa Co., VA, Samuel THOMSON and George THOMASSON lived on adjacent property and I believe, if I remember correctly, you'll find that George was Samuel THOMASSON, Sr.'s father.
Details to help distinguish Thomson from Thomasson in Louisa County.
Note: Samuel Thomasson, Sr. alive in 1783. Samuel Thomson dead in 1753.
