My maternal grandmother, Fannie Irene Helms, was Ella's sister. I was told that she referred to Ella as "Sissy". I was also told that Sidney J. Thorn's middle name was Johnson. I am not 100% sure that this is valid? There is a record on the Texas Death Index for a Sidney J. Thorne stating that he passed away in Travis County, Texas on Sep 14, 1953. I don't know if this is him or not? The information that I was given is the same as what you say, that he died in Hall County, Texas in 1954.
