Hi Karen, I am descended from Jacques (James) Thierry who was born in 1827 in France. He came here and lived and died in Detroit before 1890 and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery. His wife, Marie Messier, was born 1835 in Assumption, Ontario, Canada. They married in 1852-3 possibly Cadillac Michigan. She died 1904 in Detroit, while living with her son, Albert Thierry at 349 Dix Avenue, Detroit. Jacques (James) and Marie had 4 children: Albert, an infant who died after birth, James and Ida.
Jacques was from near Mulhouse in Alsace Lorraine, France. He came to USA in 1848.
Does this sound like my family could connect with yours somehow? The surnames sound alike and the birthdates of these 2 gentlemen are surely close. Let me know if you have any other data on Joseph, will you? I am very interested. Contact me directly at Duelang@AOL.COM
