I am following the family of Johann Gottlob Thiele who married Christine Hemmerling.

Pomerzig, Brandenburg, Prussia
Died 19th January, 1890.
Johann Gottlob was married in Prussia to Christine Hemmerling.
He was a gardener who immigrated from Glogsen, Zuellichau, to Australia with his family. The family travelled on the sailing ship, the Wilhelmsburg, Captained by J C H Muller.
On the 17th May, 1853, they set sail and Thiele family arrived 101 days later at Pt Melbourne, Victoria on the 25th August, 1853.
The family lived at Melbourne for three weeks, Hahndorf for three years and then moved to Callington, by Kanmantoo Mines.
"The family moved to Salem area near Callington in 1855. Gottlob was a signatory on a petition to the President of the Lutheran Synod in October 1858 asking for a pastor for the congregation. (Pastor Materne, Salem Book). There is no record of any land transactions until 23/3/1860, when he purchased 16 acres 2 roods, being Part Section 2007, Lot 2 Hundred of Freeling, Township of Pella, which was situated across the river Bremer from the Salem Church.This land was transferred to James Gates on 31/8/1864.On 27/7/1870 lots 13, 20C, 14, 20D of section 1816 Hundred of Strathalbyn containing 58 acres & 3 roods, with the river Bremer on the western end, were purchased on Gottlob's name, and were transferred to Carl Sawade on 23/8/1887. Carl Sawade was the husband on Gottlob's daughter Anna Maria Thiele."

Johanne Louise age 17, Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Thiele age 16, Johanna Dorothea age 14, Johann Gottlieb age10, and Johann Heinrich age 4. The twins were born after arriving in South Australia in 1956, Anna Marie and Johann August.
He is buried in a marked grave at the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Christine died of dropsy, (fluid on the lungs) at Callington is also buried at the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, died age 73 and 7 months.
