Hello Elaine,
I am requesting info. from you, as so many of the other postings are so dated I am afraid people are not looking/ responding to them anymore.

I am seeking infor. on WILLIAM "BILLY" Thetford (sometimes spelled Tedford) and wife Lucretia Gately (Gaitley).

Wm."Billy" b. @ 1793 SC and is allegedly of James (listed as Free White Person 1790 Census, Mecklenberg Co. NC, living w/bro. Walter 1798 Trigg Co. KY) James reportedly of Isiah b. 1740s-1790s Orange Co. NC, to SC to GA to KY.

Wm "Billy" m. Lucretia Gately May 1820 Madison Co. TN (though I cannot find them in TN. marriages)

They had 3 sons born in TN. John R. 1825 (never married)
Henry b. 1827-28 m. 11 chldrn. and Anderson 1832 married several times and numerous chldrn.

Joined war 1812, was in Battle of the Plantation where his brother, Knott, was mortally wounded. Billy tended him for a month as he died.

If you or any other Thetford researcher has further info. and documentation I would greatly appreciate you contacting me at: seaweedcowgirl@hotmail.com

Happy hunting!
Debra
