Adam THERIOT was baptized on 24 Jun 1846 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, LA (SM Ch.: v. 9, #85), and his pension application says he was born in 1844. He was son of Julien THERIOT & Louise (Lisette/Delisaine) LOPEZ. He was in the Confederate Army (Co. C, 10th Batallion, LA Infantry), captured on Bayou Teche on 14 Apr 1863, and sent to New Orleans to be exchanged. He married 1st on 26 Apr 1864 (SM Ch.: v.9, #355)in St. Martinville to Azelie Aurelia POIRIER, daughter of Julien POIRIER & Celeste THERIOT. She was his 3rd cousin, and a widow with two daughters, who was a little older than Adam. They had six more daughters, born from about 1865 to 1878. She died in 1895, and Adam married 2nd to Elizabeth Jeanne CHARGOIS, and had four more children.
Most of their records are in Donald J. Hebert's SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA RECORDS series.
