Suzanne, You can obtain the 2-volume set by Stephen A. White, DICTIONNAIRE GÉNÉALOGIQUE DES FAMILLES ACADIENNES, directly from the Univeristy of Moncton (in New Brunswick), Centre d'Étude Acadiennes, at: www.umoncton.ca/etudeacadiennes/centre/pub-rec.html This site includes links to an order form, a sample page, and the additions & corrections since publication. Although the set is only in French, with the keys to abbreviations it is entirely understandable to the English-speaking genealogist. Only the extensive notes are fairly difficult. However, these have been translated by Stephen A. White and are available as vol. 3: ENGLISH SUPPLEMENT (to the notes only) at: www.umoncton.ca/etudeacadiennes/centre/pub-rec.html Be aware that this first set contains only the earliest of Acadian families, those that formed from unions before the census of 1714. However, all the known children of such families are listed, with their spouses, censuses, and death information when known. This takes many individuals from late marriages well into the post-grand dérangement period. I highly recommend this set to any serious Acadian researcher. It has become the "bible" due to its accuracy and extensive documention. The next phase of publication will include marriages up to the end of 1780, and will begin with the surnames A & B, to be published by the summer of 2004. White plans to have it ready by the 2004 Congrès Mondial Acadien in Canada. I can hardly wait... Notify Administrator about this message?
