I am pleased that Genforum has inaugurated the Theiring (Tyring) forum. Most of the Theirings (Tyrings) in southern Indiana are descended from Anton Theiring of Rhein Pfalz in Bavaria. He was born in 1808 and died in 1877. He came to New York about 1837 and shortly after to southern Indiana. Two sons survived to adulthood: Jacob and Freiderick. Both sons fought in the Civil War. Freiderick's descendants generally use the Tyring spelling. I would like to learn more about Anton's descendants and other Theiring lines in the USA and Europe. -- Charles Kelly
