Squire Thayer - Patriot Invader of Canada
Posted by: Doug Thayer (ID *****9955) Date: January 18, 2009 at 13:19:25
  of 2091

In 1838 a Squire Thayer was taken prisoner while participating in an invasion of Canada led by Brigadier General Dr. Edward Theller.

The prisoners were sent to Fort Henry in Kingston and then transfered to the Citadel at Quebec City.

Theller, Dodge and couple of others made an escape and were assisted in getting back to the US by some French Partriotes.

Theller wrote a book called Canada 1837-8 in which he indicates that Thayer helped with the escape but does not mention what happened to him after that.

Does anyone know who this Squire Thayer was?
