William A. Thayer was born in Gainesville, Wyoming Co., NY in 1819, and was married in 1854 to MARY E. BROWNELL. He removed from his native place to Warsaw, NY in 1865, and to Covington, Wyoming Co., NY in 1868, and purchased the farm of ninety acres where he has since lived. Willard Thayer, his father, came from Lima, Livingston Co., NY, in 1812, and was a pioneer there. Gideon Thayer, brother of the latter, served in the war of 1812-14.
