I am a 8th generation descendant of John Tharratt of Grainthorpe, Lincolnshire.The Tharratt surname has a long line of "Master Ship Builders / Carpenters / Wheelwrights" in it's history.The Tharratt surname also apears to have it's roots planted in the Hull/Lincolnshire regions of England; but may be of French origin.Today the Tharratt surname has spread worldwide and I correspond with Tharratt descendants on five continents.
MY basic ancestry is as follows;
1)John {c.1720-1813} & Mary [nie. Wil(l)son]Tharratt
2)William {1765-1838} & Elizabeth [nie. Bilsby] Tharratt
3)Thomas {1807-?} & Susannah [nie. Wallis] Tharratt.
Thomas was an "Inland Revenue Officer" in Hull.
4) Joseph F.{1838-1927} & Mary [nie. Holey] Tharratt
Joseph was a "Master Carpenter" & lived in
Brugh-on-Bain for 48+ years. Joseph's older
brother William was a "Master Coach Builder &
Wheelwright." William emmigrated to Australia
in 1854. William also was Mayor of Gisborne,NZ.
5) John Wm. {1864-1935} & Ellen B.[nie. Norris]Tharratt
John was a "Master Carpenter & Stone Mason"
6) Eric W.{1899-1967}& E.Marciele[nie.Pieper] Tharratt
Eric "Wallace" emmigrated to the U.S.A. and
was a "Mechanical Engineer."
