The 1850 Census of Washington Co, FL showsCharnick Tharp at household #15.It gives his age as 45, his occupation as cabinet maker and his birth place as GA.Also residing in the household is Sarah Morris (age 30), M Van B (age 8, born in AL), Pericena (age 6, Female, born in AL), Josephus (age 4, born in FL), Martha (age 2, born in FL), and Mary (age 2, born in FL).I know that Martin is a Morris.I've seen Pericena and Josephus listed both ways (Tharp vs Morris) in various other people's research. The other siblings I have always seen as Tharps.Based upon the children's birthdates, the family moved to FL between abt 1844 and 1846.
I am somewhat confused about Charnick also.Based upon this census record, he was 45 which means he was born abt 1804/1805.However, in doing research on this family in GA I find them prominent in Twiggs Co.There is a Charnick shown as born in 1790.He married Elizabeth Jefferson. This Charnick was a minister for many years at Stone Creek Baptist Church.I don't show any record that he left GA.The next Charnick Tharp that I find was born Jan 18, 1843.According to family bible records he died in 1862 at the age of 19."Charnick" is not a very common name.I feel that the one in FL is related to the ones in Twiggs Co. GA, I just don't know how.
