FRANK W. THARP
Funeral rites at the Shell Street Church of Christ were held Saturday afternoon for FRANK W. THARP, better known as COTTON THARP. Mr. Tharp, age 47, died at a hospital at Wichita Falls, Texas where he had returned from more treatment for a heart ailment. Mr. Tharp was the bakery superintendent of Ford’s Bakery and was previously employed by Beall’s Bakery before the business changed hands. B. W. GUYMON, minister of the Duncan Church of Christ, conducted services, assisted by TOM E. SMITH, minister in the East Church of Christ at Healdton. Both ministers were close friends of the family. Serving as pallbearers were W. H. WOLLET, C. D. HATCHER, OMER BROWN, DAVID TOOTHMAN, MIKE BEALL. Honorary pallbearers were employees of the Ford Bakery, ARTHUR CARLOCK and CARL RISNER.

Attending from out of town were his brother, HARRY THARP, who came by plane from Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters from Houston, Texas; Mrs. Tharp’s sister and her two daughters from California, Mr. and Mrs. ARTHUR CARLOCK and son GLEN ARTHUR of Borger, Texas;

FRANK W. THARP was born March 2, 1909 at Lehigh, Oklahoma ad died Feb. 14, 1957 in Wichita Falls, age 47 years 11 months 12 days. He moved to the Healdton-Graham area with his parents, age 10, and has lived here since. He married Miss DOROTHY PONDER Sept. 5, 1936 at Wilson, who is a member of pioneer Carter County family. He was a member of the Shell Street Church of Christ and had been employed in the bakery work most of his life. He was employed by LUTZ Bakery at Clemscot prior to working at Beall’s Bakery then Ford Bakery. He and his wife reside at 521 S. Fifth in Healdton. He attended school at Rexroat and Coalgate. Surviving are his widow of the home, one brother HARRY THARP in Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. LUCILLE BOBBITT and Mrs. LOUISE TREADWAY of Houston, Texas; four nephews and four nieces; his wife, mother Mrs. MARY PONDER who had resided with him and Dorothy off and on for years.
