William Thames' Revolutionary War Pay Voucher
Greetings, Cousins,
On Ancestry.com, on my Tree ("The Genealogy-is-a-Banyan Tree"), I have just uploaded William Thames (1759-1813) Revolutionary War Pay Voucher. Both sides of his voucher are uploaded, along with an explanation regarding the "rejection" on the reverse side of the voucher.Feel free to add these items to your own Ancestry tree or download them for your records.
In July of 2010, I spent a week at the NC Archives in Raleigh, gathering all manner of records. In 2011, I submitted and had William added to the DAR Patriot Rolls, and this past summer I succeeded in having his mother, Martha Newberry Thames, added to the DAR Patriot Rolls because she contributed supplies to the militia (you will recall that Joseph Thames died 1780).At the same time I submitted William, I also successfully submitted Jesse Carver - his daughter, Susannah, married Cornelius Thames, William's son.
In addition, I have the Revolutionary War pay vouchers for Joseph Thames, Jonathan Thames, Jesse Thames, and Thomas Thames.I also have several pages of comptroller's ledgers for these and other family members.I will get them added to Ancestry as time allows (it takes time to source and cite them properly as you upload them).
If you are interested in joining DAR or SAR through William, Martha, or any of the others and would like help with your application, I would be happy to help you work on the genealogy portion of the application.
Hoping you all have a healthy, prosperous 2013,
Becky Thames-Simmons
