Julie, have just returned from a trip - thus the delay in responding.I do know thatSquire and Matthew Thames, brothers from Sumter to Mississippi, are believed by their descendants to be sons of Samuel Thames, Sr, 1800 Sumter. This is partly based on the fact that Samuel is the only Thames there in 1800 with a son of an age to be Squire. In 1810 Squire himself is head of a Sumter household. Also there is a strong indication that my ancestor, Mary Margaret Thames who married James Snowden 1818, Manchester, Sumter, SC, is closely connected to Squire.John Snowden, brother to James, was married to Elizabeth who, according to family tradition, was sister to Mary Margaret. There is a possibility that all four - Matthew, Squire, Mary Margaret and Elizabeth - were children of Samuel, Sr.We do know that MM's mother was a Brunson, but have no further proof of her parentage. Also, even though the Squire/Matthew connection to Samuel 1745-1810 was accepted by the DAR, I know of no documentedproof. This was not the line the member joined under and, I suspect, wouldn't be closely checked.Do you have any of these names on your list?Incidentally, Squire and Matthew Thames both married daughters of Shadrack Rogers of Williamsburg, SC. Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Helen Kirkendall
