Lucy Ann: A Challenge for Researchers
There is a nice lady in Mich. who is descended from Lucy Ann Thames b. 26 Jan., 1854 in Washington Co., Ala. She has been seeking the identity of Lucy Ann's parents for over 6 years. I have been trying to help her for only a short time, but have hit nothing but brick walls. The problem is this: Lucy Ann had a child out of wedlock, James Wilburt Thompson b. 1876 in Brandon, Miss., and the ancestor of the lady in Mich. The father was Willis Thompson, a man of African ancestry. She then married a man named Warrick Johnson (race unknown) on 16 Sept., 1880 in Rankin Co., Miss. Things being what they were back then, I suspect that Lucy Ann's parents may have disowned her, which may explain why they are so difficult to find. If you are wondering how a Massey got involved in this search, my mother is a Thames descended from the Lincoln Co., Miss. bunch. Please help to find Lucy Ann's parents as it would mean much to her descendants.
