James Farley Thacker, 75, Church Hill, Hawkins Co TN,
passed away Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 3:55 a.m., at his
residence, surrounded by his loving family.
James was a life long resident of Hawkins County and
attended Mountain View Baptist Church and Calvary
Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of
AFG Industries. Jim was an avid fisherman who enjoyed
taking his sons and neighborhood boys fishing. He was also
a fan of the “Big Orange” Tennessee Volunteers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl 'Boo Boo'
Simpson and Ofa Thacker Simpson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Johnson
Thacker, Church Hill, TN; one daughter and son-in-law,
Debra and Ronnie Trent, Church Hill, TN; two sons and
daughter-in-law, Doug and Amy Thacker, Church Hill, TN,
and Pete Thacker and special friend, Kathy Reese, Church
Hill, TN; five grandchildren, Andrea Patterson and
husband, Matt, Kristen Trent and fiancé, Alan Seaver,
Brittany Thacker, Lyndsey Thacker, and Jake Wimbish; one
great granddaughter, Ashleigh Patterson; and many loving
cousins and friends.
Special thanks to his special nurses, Rene Skelton, Becky
Southerland, Christina Summers and Dr. Maria Becka.
Calling hours are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, August 3,
2009, at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m., in the
funeral home chapel with the Rev. Neil Drinnon, Rev.
Randall Stapleton, and the Rev. Ronnie Trent officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Arnold, Bill Smith, Howard
Thacker, Johnny Thacker, Herman Dobbs, Lee Dobbs, Mark
Johnson, and Kent Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Gary
Thacker, Ralph Thacker, Matt Patterson, Alan Seaver, Chris
Ashbrook, Shane Greer, Danny Neeley, and Randy Johnson.
Graveside services with military honors conducted by the
American Legion Color Guard and Tennessee National Guard,
will be conducted Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 11 a.m., at
Church Hill Memory Gardens.
