Lena R. LeTexier
Lena R. LeTexier, 95, of Cavalier and formerly of Leroy, ND died on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND, where she has lived since August 27, 2007.
Lena Rose Martineau was born April 1, 1912, to William and Mary (Bartlette) Martineau at Leroy.
On September 3, 1933, she married Francis Marie LeTexier at Leroy, ND. They raised 12 children in rural Leroy. Even though the house was full, there was always room for more, if anyone needed a place to stay, they were never turned away. After her children were raised, Lena worked during the potato harvest, painted homes (sometimes joining forces with her sisters) and worked with Gene and Janet at LeTexier Ornamental Concrete. All knew her as "Gramma Lena" the little lady with the biggest heart in the country, she always had a kind word to say and brought out the best in people. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten by all of her family, friends, and neighbors.
Lena was active in the St. Joseph's Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Bible Study, Degree of Honor and Legion of Mary. She was proud to be Pembina County Faith in Actions first recipient and was appreciative of the great care they gave her.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Galle, Park Rapids, MN; Ramona Latraille, Grafton, ND; Jim (Bev) LeTexier, East Grand Forks, MN; Louise (John) Gariepy, St. Paul, MN; Richard (Jan) LeTexier, East Grand Forks, MN; Joyce (Joe) Stirbisky, Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada; Dorothy (Laverne) Scholler, Crystal, ND; daughters-in-law, Linda LeTexier, Cavalier, ND and Janet LeTexier, Walhalla, ND; 78 grandchildren; 184 great grandchildren; 168 great great grandchildren; three great great great grandchildren; brother, Joseph Lester (Kay) Martineau, Chanhassen, MN; sister, Alice Carignan, Cavalier, ND.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; children, Beatrice Ellis, Bernice Ritchot, Edward "Buck" LeTexier, Thomas LeTexier, and Gene LeTexier; brother, Viator Martineau; sisters, Irene Martineau, Mae Werven Austfjord, Vida Dalzell Patterson, Evelyn Robert, Isabel LeTexier, and Agnes Moulds.
Funeral Mass Monday, October 29, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Leroy, ND. Burial in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
