Martha Ellen tewell (1858-1940) is the daughter of Abner Tewell (1815-1889): his wife, Eliza Jay (1823-1880), Abner is the son of Daniel Tewell(1782-1862); who was married to Jane Gordon (1785-1862) Jane Gordoh is the daughter of Thomas Gordon who served in the Revolutionary Army of 1776. Daniel is my G,G,G grandfather. The family grew around Bedford County, Penn. Kevin Tewell has a good Teweell web page, but we disagree on Daniel's wife. His evidence is a deed written when Daniel would have been only 16. Not likely. Martha Ellen Tewell married William Proctor Buxton. The buxton's were a prominent family in Beford. Ellen had 12 children. Other than their names and date of birth, I have nothing on any of the children. I am in the process of putting the Tewell family onto Ancestry.com. It is slow however. The whole family tree is on my Family Tree Maker. If you interested the whole family, let me know and I can smail maill you the whole family of Tewells. We are prett;y sure that the Tewell's came from County Tyrone in Ireland and they, most likely, are of Scotch-Irish extraction
