Re: Tevis surname origin and dna testing

Once again I have been delving into the possible origin of the surname "Tevis". Now Ancestry.com lists the origin og the Tevis surname as a variant of the German surname "Tewes" which is then said to be a shortened form of "Matthew". Obviously this goes nowhere because there are also folks from the Azores with the same Tevis surname.

So, since names can be changed, I am asking if anyone has had dna testing done on the Y chromosome for Tevis who might be willing to share their haplotype with us. Only Male Tevis have a y chromosome.
Names can be changed but dna cannot. Knowing haplotypes would help tie down the genealogy part to a geographic area or two at least.
