Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum

will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
You might check my message on this forum. I believe that the Tetherows were actually descendants of the Dotterer family of Pennsylvania. Tetherow is one of more than 50 variant spellings of the surname that I have found. You might want to check out various of the Palatine internet sites and do searches on that name. It's all pretty discouraging and time consuming but sooner or later I hope to find a clue to unlock the mystery! I suspect that somewhere on the frontier of North Carolina, Tennessee, or Kentucky, or even Ohio, I'll find that clue. I don't believe that the story in the Hoffman/Tetherow book is completely accurate but there are probably elements of truth. The Hoffmans, Younts, Schwenks, Schweitzers, Keevers, Antes, and many other early Pennsylvania names are often associated with the Tetherows in many different locations.
