I haven't been online or on this forum for a few weeks and didn't realize I had messages to respond to.I have not been actively working on my Tetherows for some time (involved in a huge database, the descendancy of Thomas Olney of Providence of Rhode Island, to say nothing about being discouraged with the lack of leads in my Tetherow research!)but having just returned from a trip to Oregon I have somewhat rekindled my interest in Tetherows.Solomon Tetherow was an interesting early settler and mountain man in Oregon history and I have always tried to figure out how he might be connectected to my Tetherows. One of his daughters married a Paul Hildebrandt, another name I have in my files.I strongly suspect that the Tetherows are actually descendants of the Dotterers of early Berks (and other counties)in Pennsylvania.I have accumulated over 50 variant spellings of the name and Totherow/Tetherow is among them. Many of that family settled in Frederick County, MD, and some went quite early to North Carolina.I have a lot of information on various members of the family but can't figure out how my Michael fits in.He was in Ohio by 1790, along with the Keevers, who were from Frederick County, MD.And there were also Tetherows in New York quite early, apparently part of the early Palatine migration.I have been unable to find a marriage record for Michael T. and Rachel Keever. And neither left a will.Very frustrating and made more frustrating by the multitude of different spellings of the name.Would like to get some dialogue going about all of this.
