in order to to decipher the 2 or 3 teter families of rowan co .in the late 1750s early 60s. we can can look at the 2 early jacobs of virginia.
Frederick co. virginia court records page 8 1743 ,ordered george bowman adam falkerbourgh robert mckcay. view road, john funks mill cross ceder run creek ford ,to said robert mckayjr, by petition of Jacob Teeter. therefore here is one jacob teeter also living here were george teator and a george tetnor possibly one an the same.
At the same time in another part of surry virginia were another pair of teters english by their notes and varations of spelling tuder teder teeder tedor.
21 march 1748 surry order book page 534 robert jordan christopher mooring- samuel teeder tuder ect, lay open road road to clays branch to bolling alley. note it appears that this samuel teter was one of the bothers of john william james teterton of tyrrell nc. formely known in the will of thomas evans as samuel teterton, this samuel is mentioned here 3 times with wife mary. and 1 time with charity tuell. this may mean nothing, but capt samuel gibson teater did have a daughter named charity. shortly after that samuel teater. the son of george teater and sarah pearis also named his daughter charity.
next to this samuel was jacob teder.18 july 1749 surry deed book 5 page 431 Jacob teder to james bruce.
therefore there was samuel and jacob teder living in this part. while at the same time jacob teeter and george teator where living in another part frederick co.. the jacob and samuel of surry were always mentioned near and with the evans, and these evans did relocate to beuafort nc. and then to rowan county with george teeder of beaufort. it appears the link was samuel teder teterton who was the son inlaw of old thomas evans.. the evans of beaufort did remove to rowan county with old George Teeder and his 2 sons george tedder jr and thomas Tettor.
On page -- rowan co scout blank--- jr teeter. this could of only of been george tedder jr son of old george teeder of beaufort. george tedder jr is noted removing later with another well known man of rowan co,john lewis beard. his brother thomas tettor went to georgia for a while ,then came back to dobbs by the revolution where he noted as mustering out 100 dollars.
next item is scouts page16 2june 1759,conrad micheal. jacob teeter, sgt conrad keam , jacob teeder. . lt thomas evans commaning this part of the rowan militia.
this means that the jacob teeter of frederick co virg german and the engish jacob teder of surry both removed to rowan co nc. and both were in the same squad.
rowan scouts.page 46 14 feb 1760 daniel little ,george teeder.
, this would be the old George Teeder of beaufort.nc. that removed from beaufort to rowan cn. with the Evans family.it should also be noted that Lt thomas evans commanded this miltia and that the samuel teterton of tyrrell and surry virg, was the son inlaw of old thomas evans..
another link here is that daniel boone and john van cleave were also memebers of this militia. john vancleaves brother william was the father of george teater jr of kentuckys wife mary van cleave, while squire boone daniels borther married the aunt jane van cleave,

the above is the 1755 beaufort nc tax list under E COLUM IS BENJAMIN EVANS and the rest of the evans, note here george teeder is spelled tuder where as his sons thomas and george jr are tedder and tettor, below is george teeders brother benjamin tedder, who fathered james teder of richamond.nc who fathered benjamin who fathered the george teter of 1800 montgomery nc., by the 1760s george tedder jr was well entrenched in dobbs nc. by 1777, a george teater took the oath of allegeice in granville, then it should suggest that he was the son of the jacob teeeter of frederick co virg that migrated to rowan couty.
Taterton, John 1
Tatorton, William 1 john and william here are in tyrrell 1755 listed on land called the wolfpit whch ran to beaufort to where george tedder and benjamin tedder lived. yet by the 1760s to the revolution both john and william are also in dobbs with george tedder jr and his brother thomas tettor,
thos william and john are in dobbs later with george tedder jr and brother thomas tettor. asjohn and william tederton teterton ect, both are noted as patriots of the revolution.
so that also leads to john teters of the 1770 s 80s .one in dobbs the other in wash co virg. i could only specualate but there was a john george teter baptized in 1739 by reverend Stover he most likey the same john teater that lived washindton co, and is very often confused or combined with the george william teater of kentucky.

on the same tax list are george tedder jr and his brother thomas tettor who were the sons of george teeder sr of beaufort and rowan co. what happened to old jacob teeder and old samuel teeder teterton is unknown, but samuel did have 2 brothers named william and james teterton of tyrrell by 1755 william and john could have been the sons of any of these brothers , in any case they came here to dobbs with 2 others george tedder jr amd thomas tettor..
