After reading your May 28/05 posting, I looked up a family history that was compiled some time before World War Two. There is a listing for Henry Testar (b. 9/5/1816). My family branch traces through Henry's older brother John Keene Testar (b. 26/3/1815). The family were tailors in Paris prior to the French Revolution,continuing this profession once in England. The family story is that two brothers left for England to escape the excesses of the 1790's. The other family owned a coachline operating between Paris and Le Havre. In France, the name was Testard.
