This man has been a thorn in my side for many years now, but I keep going back to him and hoping to find something about his family.
What I know:
Catherine Woodruff Terry (b. Dec 23, 1808 in OH), who married William McVey Buxton (son of Edmund Buxton, b. Mar 10, 1806) was the daughter of William Terry. That information came from "Family Records or Genealogies of the First Settlers of Passaic Valley and Vicinity Above Chatham"
William Terry was the son of Jonathan Terry and Huldah Van Sickle. That William was born Aug 31, 1787, married Phebe _______ (possibly Denton) and went 'west'. This information is from Notes of Terry families, in the United States of America By Stephen Terry. Now, why do I think this is my William? Because Catherine's first daughter was named Phebe, and because Jonathan Woodruff stated in 1844 that his mother was a sister of Jonathan Terry, and also because Abba Terry, another child of Jonathan and Huldah named one of her children Jonathan Woodruff Dolbeer (just as Catherine's middle name is Woodruff). However, I don't have definite proof of this William in OH.
William Terry, husband of Susannah Butler. This couple is documented in early Hamilton Co records, but I have never seen Catherine listed as a child of theirs.
So, does anyone have information that can help me sort this out? I would appreciate anything you have on Terry's in early Hamilton Co, Ohio. Thanks in advance!
