I am researching the line of Thomas Hilton. We believe him to be a Native American. Our DNA is NA and we are trying to figure out his land dealings and movement into the Rowan area. Any help appreciated.

Gentlemen, greeting. THOMAS HILTON by his certain indenture dated Apr 12, 1750, has conveyed to Richard Dudgeon 270a of land with appurtenances and now being in Halifax Cty. Elizabeth, the wife of said Thomas Hilton cannot conveniently travel to our county court to make acknowledgement of the deed. You are therefore authorized to go to Elizabeth to receive her ack. Signed Jun 22 in the 26th year of our Reign - Clem't Read.
Halifax Cty. We have this day met and privily and apart from her husband examined the said Elizabeth, who says she freely relinquishes her dower to the said land. Jn 17, 1752. Wm Irby, hampton Wade. No recorded date stated
