i'm looking for husbands and families to my Elliott women who married into Terrell families and apparently both have a John Terrell! One is in Lawrence Co IN and one is next door in Martin Co IN. However, i can't seem to find them but on one census than they poof so i don't know if they've had previous marriages or remarried or if they died.
What i have so far is this:
Mary ELLIOTT b 1828 Orange Co IN d 27 FEB 1875 buried Elliott Cem, Martin Co IN married John TERRELL.
Mary is the dau of Martha "Patsy" Moser and Zimri Elliott.
1850 Mary age 22 living with mother and brothers and family
1860 Mary age 31 living with her brother's family in Martin Co IN.
1870 Spice Valley Twp, Lawrence Co IN enum 8 AUG
313/313 Terrell John 57 IN farmer
Mary 42 IN
Salome 17 IN
Emjeriah 15 IN (wasnt sure of spelling)
George W 13 IN
Isom 10 IN
Levi 9 IN
Zimrye 2 IN (her father's name)
John E 1 IN
In 1880 i only found Isom boarding as a farm laborer. Also if this is Mary Elliott, then John was previously married. i did find a John in 1880 that said he was married and living with a dau that's not listed above. i also found a Levi W Terrell age 18 living with a Rachel who is listed as his mother and a widow. so i don't know if John remarried and divorced and or died or if it's just another family...
The next family is:
Kitty (Catherine) ELLIOTT b 1846 Martin Co IN m 13 DEC 1867 Martin Co IN Josiah TERRELL
Kitty is the dau of: Jacob Nelson ELLIOTT b 1812 NC d 1886 m 17 Nov 1836 in Washington Co IN Catherine (Kitty)Richardson
Note: 1850 Spice Valley, Lawrence Co IN
589/589 Terrell John 31 NC
Mary 31 IN
William 12 IN
Alfred 10 IN
Nancy 8 IN
Wilburn 5 IN
James 4 IN
Josiah 2 IN
Harrison 6mos IN
1870 Halbert Twp, Martin Co IN Census
Terrell Joseph 21 IN
Terrell Kittie 24 IN
Terrell Mary A 2 IN
Both these Terrell families seem to disappear also; tho Josiah didn't since he did marry...don't know where the rest of the family is or went; tho i don't find Josiah and Kitty after 1870.
Anyone have any clues to these Terrell's? Any help is very much appreciated!
