William Terrell, Sr. (aka "Uncle Billy Terrell") married Mary "Polly" Baker. They had one child only. Her name was Mary "Polly" Terrell.
Mary "Polly" Terrell married Isaac Ford. They had four children: William Ford, Saleta Ford, Mary Ford, and Coleman Ford. Mary "Polly" Terrell Ford died when Coleman was just 4 months old. Coleman was the youngest child. William and Mary "Polly" Baker Terrell finished raising their 4 grandchildren.
When Mary Ford was grown, she married(or had a child with out of wedlock with), Jack Lee/Clee. It is uncertain if they were married. Mr. Lee/Clee left and Mary died just one hour after giving birth to her only child, later named William Terrell (aka William Terrell Ford) by his grandparents. His grandparents, William Terrell and Polly Baker Terrell raised him in their home from the time he was one hour old. His grandfather, William Terrell, called him William Terrell because he didn't want him to bear the name of Clee or Lee, as he didn't like the man, Ford being the last name of his mother, when "little Billy" aka William Terrell Ford was born.
If you are interested in all the documentation for this information, I would be happy to forward to you the 60 page court transcript from the Georgia Supreme Court in 1899 as soon as I am finished typing it up from the copy of the original :-) There is a lot more information included in it. My sister, Ami Hart, and I found the original case file from the law suit of the heirs of William Terrell against W.C. Gill and Lucy Johnson in an old box that was uncatalogued and in the basement of the Georgia State Archives just two weeks ago! :-)
