No kin to me. Just sharing an interesting find. Sherry http://www.texashistoryhunter.net =========================== http://ftp.rootsweb.ancestry.com/pub/usgenweb/tx/collin/newspapers/nov1918.txt McKinney Newspaper Nov. 11, 1904 Denison, Texas---All the avti-toxin serum for tetanus owned by physicians or to be purchased at the drug stores in this city was exhausted, yesterday, in case of tetanus which is being treated by a local physician and a additional supply of serum was secured from Sherman sources and will be used. The victim of the dread disease is Lawrence Terrell of Ardath, Collin County. Tuesday morning, while at work on his farm, Mr. Terrell stepped on the rusty blade of a hoe. Wednesday, symptons of tetanus began to develop and he was brought to Denison by relatives in order to take the serum treatment. The physician, under whose care Terrell was placed, worked with the patient all day, up to 1 o'clock last night, when he grew somewhat easier. The case is doing as well as possible and the physician has hopes of saving the patient's life if the serum takes effect soon enough to counteract the effect of the tetanus germ. Mr. Terrell. mentioned above, is a brother of M. T.Terrell of Ardath who, it will be remembered, was the victim of a peculiar accident about two weeks ago, in which he lost an ear. He was returning home from McKinney with an empty cotton wagon when his bridle broke and his team ran away. The wagon was turned bottom side up and Mr. Terrell was caught beneath. The sideboard of the wagon cut off his left ear close to his head. Notify Administrator about this message?
