"Darlene M. Wilaby -Mar 31 1934 - Feb 21 2011:       
Darlene M. Wilaby, 76, of Brookings, died Monday, February 21, 2011 at the United Retirement Center in Brookings. Funeral services have been set for 10:30am Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church in Volga. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, February 25, 2011 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.
Darlene M. Alexander was born on March 31, 1934 in Volga, SD, the daughter of Herman and Nada (Terklesen) Alexander. Darlene received her education in Volga, SD and was a graduate of the Volga High School. She was united in marriage to Duane M. Wilaby on March 4, 1955, in Volga. She was employed at the Clerk of Courts for several years, helped Duane in the trucking operation, and was employed at 3M in Brookings from 1988 until her retirement in 1996.
Darlene was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings. She especially enjoyed crocheting, gardening, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Duane of Brookings, SD; two sons Donald (Sarah) Wilaby of Englewood, CO, David Wilaby of Aurora, SD; one daughter Diane Wilaby of Rochester, MN; and four grandchildren, Erin Wilaby, Heather Wilaby, Charles Wurzer, and Henry Wurzer.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents. Darlene passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at the age of 76."

"VOLGA -- Elizabeth Terkelsen, age 87, of Volga, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at the Volga Christian Reformed Church, with interment in First Lutheran Cemetery in Volga.
Visitations will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Memorials may be directed to Gideons International, the Volga Christian Reformed Church or the Volga Christian School.
Elizabeth (Mans) Terkelsen was born February 11, 1917, near Volga, South Dakota, to Peter and Johanna M. (Lengkeek) Mans. On June 28, 1943, she married Orville "Skipper" Terkelsen at Volga. He died May 18, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy J. (Paul) Schaefer, of Yankton, South Dakota; two grandchildren: Shelly and Brad (Jana); a great-granddaughter, Olivia Jean; seven brothers: Arie (Alice) Mans of Orange City, Iowa, Henry (Margaret) Mans of Lynden, Washington, Otto (Genevieve) Mans of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mitchell R. "Bob" (Laura) Mans of Volga, Clarence Mans of Cornwall, New York, Louis (Audrey) Mans of Bourbonnais , Illinois, and Rev. Peter (Joan) Mans of Blaine, Washington; four sisters: Dena Meyer of Volga, Margaret DeGroot of Byron Center, Michigan, June (Leonard) Gorter of Lynn Valley, Kansas, and Johanna Brink of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers-in-law: Bill Meyer, Ronald Brink and Donald DeGroot; and two sisters-in-law: Betty Mans and Dena Mans."
